Salem, Ma - The Perfect Fall Trip

One of my favorite cities that I've ever visited in the US and I knew it would be as I was obsessed with learning about the witch trials at a young age. The entire area is the quintessential fall location. By September leaves are all around. Let's get some logistics out of the way first ! Here are some of my favorite places !

I've gone now for the last 3 years and I absolutely loved it. I've updated this post as of September 2024!

Favorite Stores

Witch Haven, Salem Flea Market, HAUSwitch and so many more. Stroll and try to enter as many as possible !

One of the still standing properties from the witch trials. Rebecca Nurse was one of the women accused of witchcraft. Her home was preserved by her estate and you can tour it today. It's very heavy energy, ground yourself if you go. I specifically wanted to connect to the men and women who got murdered during this time. That is why the city is popular and I always want to honor the why albeit a terrible history.

The best spent time. If you want to frolic in the woods and learn about herbology DO THIS!!! I spent most of my time giggling because the euphoria of being in the woods just took me back to being a little girl in North Carolina (yep I'm from there).

She has a lot of knowledge about what grows in the area.

ROPES MANSION

We all lovingly know this home as Allison's home from Hocs Pocus but it's actually a museum. The family that lived here all died under weird circumstances. It's nice to vist but the gardens are the real star of this show. The entire back of the house has an extensive garden that we spent so much time in.

Black Craft

The largest witch statue in america and she is a beauty. They also have a great range of black clothing attire. It's a gorgeous store and it's located inside a old bank.

Max's Home

Yes! Max's house from Hocus Pocus is an actual home. It's on a residential street so please be mindful. Don't go on the porch and it's in a really cool location by the water. I talked with the owner and he was so sweet.

Cider and Hot chocolate

Yes from everywhere. My favorite was Red's and Odd Meter!!! They don't disappoint!

Food

Yesssss! My favorites were Ledger, Red's and any ramen. All honestly so good!!!There is a updated food post for Salem on my blog linked here.

Should you go and how busy is it really?

Is it worth it? Absolutely, I'm going back again this year. This is my 4th year in a row. I love this city. It is no busier than any other city that's popular during a certain time of year. If you plan and make reservations. I also just have a very calm and chill way of moving throughout travel. don't sweat the small stuff and BE NICE TO THE LOCALS. They are sharing a very special city with us.
